Strong Bipartisan Support for New Airport
Last week U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issued the long-awaited 404 permit for the new airport, and in doing so, brought the permitting phase of the project to an end.
A broad range of elected officials and local business leaders issued statements in support of the new airport, including:
Elected/Government Officials
Governor Charlie Crist
Former Governor and Senator Bob Graham
Senator Bill Nelson
Senator Mel Martinez
U.S. Representative Allen Boyd
State Senator Don Gaetz
State Representative Jimmy Patronis
FDOT Secretary Stephanie Kopelousos
Business Leaders
Bay County Chamber of Commerce Chairman Steve Southerland II
Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce Chairman David Powell
Walton County Chamber of Commerce CEO Dawn Moliterno
Beaches of South Walton Executive Director
Bay County EDA Executive Director Ted Clem
These national, state and community leaders join the FAA, USACE, the Bay County Commission and dozens of other reviewing and regulatory bodies in approving the relocation of our airport.
This strong bipartisan support stands in sharp contrast to the handful of relocation opponents who have their own personal agendas in fighting airport relocation.
