Engineering Team Identifies Savings; FAA Evaluates Funding Alternatives
No one should doubt Airport Authority Chairman Joe Tannehill’s ability to put a budget under a microscope. For months now he has been pushing the Airport Authority’s engineering team to identify savings in the projected airport relocation budget.
At yesterday’s airport board meeting the engineering team reported it had identified $14 million in savings to date. I am confident Tannehill will continue to push for additional savings wherever possible.
In related news, Airport Executive Director Randy Curtis reported that the FAA is evaluating a range of funding alternatives for the project, some of which could save the project considerable money.
Curtis said the FAA indicated continued strong support for the project in meetings in Washington last week.
