Local Tourism Officials Praise Nature Center

It's not just for environmentalists. Two our our region's most important tourism officials have weighed in with their view of the proposed Audubon Nature Center, and what it could mean for our area.

Bob Warren, president and CEO of the Panama City Beach Visitors and Convention Bureau, said:

“An Audubon Nature Center in West Bay has the potential to be one of the leading ecotourism destinations in Florida and the Southeast. It is an opportunity to take advantage of one of our region’s great strengths, while at the same time preserving what is special about Bay County forever.”

Kriss Titus, executive director of Beaches of South Walton Tourism Development Council, said:

“This represents a tremendous opportunity to use an Audubon Nature Center as a gateway to environmental experiences in Northwest Florida. We know that natural attractions and eco-tourism activities are important to our visitors. A recent visitor tracking study revealed that more than 50 percent of our visitors enjoy activities beyond the beach. This project will be a great addition to the area and help increase awareness that Northwest Florida is a ‘green destination,’ a place where visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of our beaches, bays and rivers.”
