Regional Airport Commerce Council Set to Convene

Airport Executive Director Randy Curtis has invited leaders from ten Northwest Florida counties to attend a meeting in Panama City on April 4 for the purpose of creating a Regional Airport Commerce Council (RACC).

As envisioned, the RACC will be a cooperative regional council that works to maximize the economic development potential for the new airport.

According to Curtis:

“Our goal is to create a regional commerce council that maximizes the economic potential of the new airport and enhances the quality of life for the entire region. We will bring together public and private groups from across the region to begin a coordinated effort to market Northwest Florida to airlines, industries and leisure audiences around the world.”

Curtis, who will chair the new group, added: “We’re going to spend a lot of time listening at this first meeting to gather people’s thoughts so we can move ahead quickly and with shared purpose.”

At the first meeting, Curtis hopes to name task forces to help develop plans for economic development, marketing, tourism development and council administration.
